Which of the 8 Sectors are you involved in and why did you choose that particular sector?

NCPPA is providing the leadership for implementation of the NPAP so in that regard, we are actually involved with all of the sectors!

What's most exciting to you about the U.S. having a National Physical Activity Plan?

This is the first time that there is actually a plan to encourage more Americans to be physically active that is based on policy. Local, state and federal policies that will make it easier for Americans to get the recommended daily amounts of physical activity where they live, where they work, where they go to school and where they play, as well as on their way to such places!

What will success of the NPAP look like to you in 3 years, 5 years? 10 years?

A smaller and smaller plan as items are "checked off the list" of tactics and strategies since they have been accomplished! In all seriousness, I think that success of the plan will be increases in the number of Americans reporting that they are engaging in physical activity. I would like to think that there will be a sharp increase in the 3 years as a result of the plan being launched and implemented and then steady progress as we move forward in the number of policies implemented locally, at the state and at the federal levels that help Americans engage in physical activity as a way of life.
